- Then, they blame others for the situation.
- Then they shore up allies and isolate complainants.
- Then, they feel indignant that they’ve been challenged or criticized.
- Finally, they retaliate – they perceive all critical feedback as a personal attack and will always retaliate.
Whether narcissists get away with their denying, blaming, lobbying, marginalising, indignation, and retaliations depends largely on:
(1) the strength of will and conviction of those around them
and
(2) whether accountability systems outside the organisation are independent and robust.”
